What types of extended services does Maplandia.com offer?

Maplandia.com offers our users the ability to create custom designed maps and geographic charts using our proprietary API connections to Google Maps. Once you have created your custom maps, Maplandia.com can design and maintain a custom webpage on our site to host your custom maps. You can make use of our custom graphics designs on your Maplandia.com pages or provide your own designs. Please note that your custom maps and pages may only be hosted on Maplandia.com and may not be copied or embedded to any other site or server.

I am getting the popup that says the Google API key was generated for a different URL.

This is known bug of Google Maps API on Safari browser. Please try to use other browser for viewing maplandia.com. Maplandia should work fine with all browsers supported by Google Maps. Google Maps currently supports recent versions of Firefox/Mozilla, IE 5.5+, Safari 1.2+ and sort of supports Opera. IE 5.0 is not supported.

From where does your gazetteer data come from?

Our comprehensive world gazetteer is own developed product. Although the result might seem simple now, the process of its creation was not piece of cake. The regional directory and place gazetteer in the versions presented here on Maplandia is the result of intensive long-term work with wide variety of data sources.

Can I use your gazetteer on my own project? Can it be obtained as data?

No. As mentioned above, our world regional gazetteer is own developed product of intensive several months work. We made it public here on maplandia.com, you may browse it for free and we also welcome all your links to our sites. However you may not copy any part of our webiste under any cirucumstances. Can I obtain any country or administrative region boundary (contour) data?

No. The boundary data used on maps on maplandia.com are protected by copyright. The use of boundary data, regional directory data or any other part of our website's content outside the maplandia.com is prohibited. Please see our terms of use for more details.
